No place on earth with the exception of Antarctica brings in the mystery of exploration then the Amazon Jungle in South America. The “Lungs of the World” have been the attention of the world for decades. In the early 20th century it was one of the last unexplored parts of the world that brought the legendary explorer Percy Fawcett to an early grave and almost killed a former U.S. President.
The Amazon spans several countries with the greatest amount of terrority located in the North of Brazil. Manaus is the largest city in the State of Amazonas and is was where my friends and I began our trip deep into the Amazon on the Rio Negro river. While we were out there in the jungle we did so in a lap of luxury located at the Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge (https://en.anavilhanaslodge.com/) . An amazing 4 star lodge approximately a 3 hour ride or 45 minute flight from Manaus with lodges, bungalows, and tree houses. For 4 days and 3 nights we explorer the Rio Negro, hiked through the jungle, shot bows made the same way as the local indigenous tribes, caught piranhas, and sought out the hidden Pink Dolphins that rule the river.
